I am currently a Library Media Specialist at Colony Middle School in Palmer, Alaska.  At work I am surrounded by students and computers all day, work and collaborate with teachers, teach Information Literacy and just attempt to try something new regularly… and yes, I love middle schoolers!

I have followed blogging for a few years, have helped teachers start class blogs and now am attempting to challenge myself, and hopefully organize too with this blog.

I learn so much everyday that I read and  write.

This is about the 10th blog I have started, and hope I can be more committed than in the past!  I do like this setup better than figuring out the ins and outs of Manilla.  I never could get the categories in Manilla to work, and look… they are already set up!

The title Teacher-Librarian is of course what I am in my professional life.  I find that I use blogs from two perspectives.  The personal/professional blog where I reflect on my work is the one I tend to let lapse, and the other is when I turn teachers onto blogging with students.  Not very many teachers are brave enough to delve into blogging.  As noted in many other ed blogs- blogging with students takes teachers off their high horse and makes them accessible, if not vulnerable, and is definately an avenue for risk takers. When successful the rewards, as with all risks, are incredible.

I will be presenting a workshop on blogging for school librarians in August, so I better get practicing!  Thank goodness there are so many wonderful examples out there today.  I hope to gather them here and use this a the launch spot for the workshop.

Thanks for the space Edublog!
